GABA April 15th, 2009 Board Meeting Minutes
ATTENDANCE: AJ Prasad, Carl Stein, David Panichello, Dawn Rasmussen, Karen Montez & Lou Fontana. (Lee Powell & Alan Sanchez – Excused Absence).
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by President, AJ Prasad at 11:05am.
BOARD MINUTES: It was moved to accept the March 2009 Board Minutes, seconded and approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT: It was moved to accept the February & March 2009 Treasurer’s Report; seconded and approved. Bank statements provided and approved. Treasurer’s report has been fully transferred & reflected on Quickbooks providing General Account detail to include payee & account type breakdown, Thank-you Karen. Incorporating additional itemized payor classification for existing & new members for future reporting & tracking purposes noted. Waiting for last remaining checks to clear with WAMU to fully close account. It was moved & seconded to remove the $525 parade endorsement from annual Safeco insurance policy.
GENERAL MEETING SPEAKERS & MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: May 14th General Meeting: Judy Shipwreck confirmed as keynote speaker. Amanda Fritz has been targeted for June 11th General Meeting. Considering Randy Leonard (Lou) & a Representative from The Port of Portland (AJ) as future speakers. Continue drawings to help promote GABA businesses and the Membership Spotlight.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT: Lou provided up-to-date details including food services, child entertainment, live music (stage), Fire & Police, volunteers, shirts/hats/pull-overs for volunteers & for sale, cruise-in application update and suggestion of ordering new GABA ~ Fun-O-Rama ~ National Night Out banners. Date for Fun-O-Rama ~ National Night Out 2009 moved to Saturday, August 15th, 2009 from 10:00am to 7:00pm.
PUBLICITY: A separate meeting, to be determined, has been scheduled to further detail the marketing of Fun-O-Rama ~ National Night Out 2009 and agreed by The Board.
SPONSORSHIP COMMITTEE: Calls to past sponsors. Discussion of sponsorship discounts made available to F-O-R ~ NNO participants.
NEW BUSINESS: Lou suggested having access to the GABA website made available to the Board for future updates & member benefits (in addition to Debbie at Postal Place). A special meeting for all Board Members to be scheduled to redefine membership benefits (member relations) and outline future marketing/sponsorship opportunities. Discussion of having a Welcome Letter from President AJ emailed to all existing GABA members and triggering a separate letter to all new businesses locating to the GABA district.
