GABA February 18th, 2009 Board Meeting Minutes
ATTENDANCE: AJ Prasad, Lee Powell, Carl Stein, Karen Montez, Alan Sanchez, Lou Fontana, David Panichello (Dawn Rasmussen – Excused Absence)
CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order by President, AJ Prasad at 11:05am.
BOARD MINUTES: It was moved to accept the January, 2009 Board Minutes, seconded and approved.
TREASURER’S REPORT: It was moved to accept the December, 2008 – January, 2009 Treasurer’s Report, seconded and approved. It was moved to purchase Quickbooks Simple, upload & convert. Seconded & approved. It was moved & approved for AJ to transfer $2,000 from WAMU to new account with Columbia Bank. New signature forms were prepared by AJ and approved by all Board Members; adding all Board Directors.
GENERAL MEETING SPEAKERS: There was discussion concerning giving Lee 2 weeks notice of identifying future Meeting Speakers for ample publicity notification. Discussion for filling future “Member Spotlight” opportunities. Amanda Fritz (Portland City Council), John Canzano (Oregonian Sportswriter) & Brian Wheeler (Blazer Radio Play-by-Play) were mentioned as exciting future Speakers. Dawn Rasmussen with Pathfinder Writing & Career Services is confirmed for our March Meeting. Loves & Fishes will continue sponsoring & providing lunches at the Oregon Baptist Retirement Home, our new-found meeting location.
NATIONAL NIGHT OUT: The date of August 2nd, 2009 from 11:00am – 6:00pm confirmed at OBRH. Discussion of anticipated activities include but not limited to: 50-60 classic car entries, vendor booths, mounted police~canine unit~fire dept. on site, kiddie playland, putt-putt golf, live entertainment (2 bands), flag raising ceremony and 60 sponsors taking part. Volunteers (needed) with new GABA~National Night Out T-shirts discussed at a cost of $7/per.
PUBLICITY: Thanks to Deborah Higa for General Meeting reminder calls from volunteers.
SPONSORSHIP COMMITTEE: AJ & Alan to outreach, place calls and contact members of changes involving National Night Out ~ Fun-O-Rama 2009, needed volunteers & vendor booth opportunities.
NEW BUSINESS: It was motioned, moved and approved to transition Board Meetings to OBRH effective with March 18th, 2009 meeting. David suggested budgeting & forecasting for the coming year involving anticipated advertising costs. Marsha Dennis with the City of Portland is our coordinator for graffiti clean-up in the GABA District.
