Working Together, Growing Together - Since 1950
You have just discovered Oregon’s longest standing business association…
Thank you for visiting Oregon’s longest standing business association.
Origins of the Gateway Business Area Association
The Gateway Area Business Association was started in 1950 as the Woodland Park Merchants, with 15 charter members. The purpose was to promote the area with services to the community. One of the first activities was the organizing of a parade in 1951, with eager participation.
One of the highlights of the parade was the annual appearance of the Senior and Junior Rose Festival Courts. The first Fun-O-Rama days were held in 1952, with a carnival used as a fund-raising event. The Gateway Keystone Cops were a west coast-side fun group, appearing in many local and regional events such as parades and other fun-type activities.
Our Events Are Fabulous & Honor Those Who Deserve It
Take a look at the community fun, music and presentations in this fantastic video of our recent 1st Responders Tribute & Business Fair. After 9-11, Gateway business leaders and residents felt a need to pay tribute to local First Responders. Many joined us for the 12th annual Tribute to honor Portland Police Officers, Multnomah County Sheriff Deputies, Portland Firefighters and EMTs. The public was invited to this free event, featuring patriotic flag and gun salute, talented entertainment, enjoyable community fair, notable 2015 Citizen of the Year announcement and more.
